A short getaway : Day 1.

Monday, July 06, 2015

What is more awesome than having a getaway? If we are friends in Snapchat or Instagram, you probably already knew that I went to Penang Island few days ago. I just came back from a 3 days 2 nights trip with my family yesterday! It has been one and a half year I set my feet in Penang Island, I went with my classmates last time. It was around 5 hours of drive from Kuala Lumpur to Penang and we started our journey at 7:00a.m. after our breakfast (my family never skip breakfast). And I slept for half of the journey. xD

The second Penang Bridge.

After 5 hours, we were finally crossing the Penang Bridge and look at weather! :D

After we checked in to my dad's friend's condo, The Light Collection Condominium, we headed out for our lunch (the condo is really nice especially all the facilities but I didn't take any photo of it sorry :( ).

Air Itam Assam Laksa :9

We went Jalan Pasar, Air Itam for this famous Assam Laksa. CNN ranked this Assam Laksa 7th out of the 50 most delicious foods in the world (omg, so proud to be a Malaysian HAHAHA). It is a small and traditional stall located next to the Air Itam Market. This stall is also nearby a tourist attraction, Kek Lok Si Temple. It is open daily from 11:30a.m to 8:00p.m. Each bowl of Laksa only costs RM4.50 which is quite cheap compared to the price in Kuala Lumpur. Although it is a roadside stall but the Laksa definitely worth the sweat and wait. I think this Assam Laksa was by far the best I've tried in Penang.

Then, we headed to Kek Lok Si Temple after our lunch.

We took the inclined lift to the top of the hill to see the Kuan Yin statue. The lift is operational daily from 8:30a.m to 5:30p.m. and it costs RM4 per person for two ways.

The view from the top of the hill.

The weather was soooooo hot to a whole new level seriously. So we decided to go to the Trick Art Museum at Lebuh Penang, Georgetown. The entrance fees for foreigners are RM25 per person and for locals are RM15 per adult and RM10 per child or senior citizen. Students with student ID only have to pay RM10 per person. The museum open daily from 9:00a.m to 6:00p.m for weekdays and from 9:00a.m to 8:00p.m for weekends. The staffs were very helpful to take pictures for us and show us the actions for those arts. It was quite fun and interesting so I think it is worth visiting! :D Below are some of the arts from the museum. :)

For me, I think this was the most amazing one because my brother and I went into the same room but my brother became very huge and I became so tiny hahahahaha

My facial expression though HAHAHAHAHAHAHA xD

In the evening, we went to the beach to chill and take some photos. And we also saw a couple taking wedding photos at the beach.

The very-fail-jump-shot. xD

We had our dinner at Gurney Drive after that. Gurney Drive is a very famous tourist destination for the hawker foods. We ordered many foods to share and the Char Kuah Teoh here is also quite famous.

Fried Oyster Omelette, Oh Jian. We ordered the large one for RM18. I think the price is quite reasonable because there were a lot of oysters in the omelette.

Grilled fish, ikan bakar.

Prawn Mee, Har Min.

That's all for day 1 in Penang Island. I will update about day 2 soon!

Thank you for dropping by, see you soon! ;)
