A different kind of Saturday.

Hello my friends! :)

I usually spend my Saturday doing some exercise with my family, going out for a family date or watch some movies with my brother at home when the weather is too hot to go outside (yes, I'm a couch potato hehehehehehe). And usually I'll stay at home during weekends to avoid crowds. However last Saturday I went to the Centre of HOPE worldwide at Sentul as a volunteer with my friend to help the underprivileged children to learn English and at the same time help them in character building as well. Thanks to my friend who asked me to join her as a volunteer, I get to experience something different and yet meaningful.

There were a total of 8 volunteers but unexpectedly my friend and I were the youngest volunteers among them. I was responsible to look after 2 children, Joezer and Joeanna. Both of them are siblings of around 7 to 8 years old. The volunteers have to discuss some worksheets with the children and teach them English using the worksheets. That was the first time being a volunteer there so I don't really know the children yet and I don't know their English level as well. Then I realized they are not that good in English since Indian is their first language and I think they don't really have the opportunity to study. Actually I don't know if they could understand what I was talking about LOL but I think I did my best to guide them in that 2 hours.

After that, I have so much thoughts in my mind. I realized there are so many people in this world who need more help and attention. Unfortunately, many of us are too focused on ourselves that we neglected others. We always have so many things to complain about because sometimes it's easier to complain instead of fixing a problem. And do you realize that you find it harder to be happy the older you get? I think we should be more contented with what we have and we should rejoice in the way things are.

"The reason people find it hard to be happy is that they always see the past better than it was, the present worse than it is, and the future less resolved than it will be." -- Marcel Pagnol

If we take a moment to look outside of our own world, we will realize that we are much more fortunate than many people and we are actually very blessed. I truly admire how selfless and capable those regular volunteers of the Centre of HOPE worldwide are. They inspired me to be someone more selfless and they also inspired me to spread positive vibes and happiness to the people around me.

After this experience, I couldn't be more thankful to be given all the things I have now including my education, care and love by my parents. ♡

I guess that's all for today. Thank you for reading and remember to spread some happiness. ;) See you soon! x.
