Insadong: Miss Lee Café 별다방 미스리
Saturday, November 28, 2015Again, excuse the radio silence for such a long time here on the blog as I've been preparing for my IELTS exam for the past few days (yep, I should be studying now but oh well). And, I just want to share with you that I've finally received offer letter from the university I wish to pursue in after some obstacles. T-T Am I one step closer to being a dentist? HAHAHA!
After roaming around Bukchon Hanok Village, it was finally time to have lunch! YAY! Although throughout my Korea trip, most of my lunch and dinner plans failed (because most of the time we were too lazy and too hungry to find the restaurant that we've planned to eat), but I insisted to have our lunch at Miss Lee Café. Why? Because I'm a huge fan of "YongSeo" Couple (Yong Hwa from CN Blue and Seohyun from SNSD) in a Korean reality TV show "We Got Married" and they filmed one of the episode in this café. Besides being the filming location of an episode of We Got Married, the café is famous for their Korean box lunches, 도시락.
Address: 144 Gwanhun-dong, Jongno-gu, Seoul.
Directions to Miss Lee Café:
1. Take Subway Line 3 to Anguk Station, 안국역.
2. Come out from Exit 6.
3. The shop is located right above GS25.
Operating hours: 10a.m - 12a.m
What I find unique about this café is that the café has abundance of handwritten paper notes left by the customers hung all over the café. Besides that, the café also has cute and very old school design with rustic tables and chairs. I really love the atmosphere in the café! :)
Tteobokki 떡볶이 - soft rice cake with fish cake, hard boiled egg and red chili sauce. It was very delicious but super duper spicy! It was far more spicy than I imagined because normally the tteokbokki in Malaysia is quite sweet.
This is the Korean lunch box 도시락 and you are supposed to shake it before you eat to mix the rice with the sauces properly. It can get a bit messy when you're shaking the lunch box as the sauces might leak out from the box so make sure to prepare some tissue!
6,000 won for a lunch box of rice with kimchi, luncheon meat, an egg and topped with some seaweed, and it will be served with a bowl of seaweed soup.
After our lunch, we stopped by at Insadong and bought some souvenirs for our friends and family! This is a very good place to buy souvenirs because Insadong is a place where you can find a lot of Korean souvenirs like key chains, chopsticks, small little cute bags and tea. So, we just strolled around and headed back to Myeongdong for more shopping!
