Nami Island 남이섬

Wednesday, November 04, 2015

Nami Island is one of the must go tourist attractions in Korea and I was so excited to see the beautiful autumn scenery. We bought ITX (Intercity Train Express) tickets 2 weeks in advance. We were supposed to go Nami Island on Saturday but all the ITX tickets were sold out because it was peak season so we quickly changed our schedule to go Nami Island on Wednesday. Phewww, luckily there were still tickets left. You can buy your ITX tickets through online booking.

When we reached Cheongnyangni Station, we were supposed to claim our tickets at the counter but there was no people at the counter. T-T We don't have train tickets but we boarded the train and found some empty seats for my parents, uncles and aunties. However, after 10 minutes, a staff came to check tickets OMG I thought he will throw us out of the train hahahaha! We explained to him and he just said okay and walked away. Phewwwwwwwwwwww~~~~~ The journey from Cheongnyangni Station to Gapyeong Station took around 45 minutes.

Directions to Nami Island:
1. Take Subway Line 1 (dark blue line) to Cheongnyangni Station, 청량리역.
2. Take ITX from Cheongnyangni Station to Gapyeong Station, 가평역.
3. Take either Taxi or shuttle bus to Gapyeong Wharf.
4. Take ferry to Nami Island.

These are the latest timetable for the shuttle bus. You just have to pay once and you can ride the bus as many times as you want for the entire day but remember that the bus will reach and leave on time. So, make sure you don't miss it.

Nami Island is famous for its beautiful tree lined roads and this island is the location where many scenes of the famous Korean Drama, Winter Sonata were shot. Although I'm a big fan of Kpop and Korean Drama but I have never watched Winter Sonata before, maybe I'll watch it when I have more free time. There were more China tourists than local tourists so for a second I thought I was in China hahahaha xD

This is one of my favourite shots from the day, featuring my uncle and aunt.

There's some restaurants and food stalls on the island. We bought some red bean buns after walking for 3 hours. The bun was very nice and fresh!
